Taylor Swift, Silicon Valley, & Fighting Sexual Harassment: With Tammy Cho
When Taylor Swift, one of the biggest celebrities in the world, has to fight tooth and nail against harassment, we know there’s a problem. Or how about Tig Notaro addressing the years long allegations against Louis CK? I still shudder to think about Ellen Pao, working incredibly hard to move up the ladder at work, only to be trapped on a plane with a CEO talking about porn. Then, she lost her case while the whole nation watched.
1 in 3 women aged 18-34 have been sexually harassed at work.*
71% of those women never reported what happened to them.*
I was one of those women. I had no idea what to do. I swept it under the rug, embarrassed and scared. This is why I’m excited about https://www.betterbrave.com. Start up superstars, Tammy Cho and Grace Choi created Better Brave as a free resource guide for targets of sexual harassment and allies looking to help them. After reading Susan Fowler’s account of her time working at Uber, the two were motivated into action. Sexual harassment is still unfortunately a relevant issue, but it doesn’t have to be one we don’t fix.
